Carrie Cooper Obituary

Carrie Lee Cooper, of Roanoke, Va., departed this life on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, in quiet reverence and peace as God in His Wisdom sent an angel of mercy to escort her into eternal life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dovie Havner Younger; and father, Rufus Havner. Carrie will forever be remembered by her husband, Russell Lee Cooper; beloved children, La Verne Lewis, of Virginia Beach, Frances (Michael) Payne, Leroy (Rev. Judy) Havner, and William Neely, all of Roanoke; treasured grandchildren, Kenny (SiWan) Payne, Sherwin Payne, Brian (Marcia) Lewis, of Hampton, Va., Hope (James) Hill and Marcus Finney, of Roanoke; a host of great-grandchildren; devoted family friend, Howard Turner, of North Carolina; caregivers, Joanna Nelms and greatgrandson, Sterling Overstreet; with countless friends and family whom were blessed to know her. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Serenity Funeral Home. The interment will be held in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call at Serenity on Monday, November 16, 2009, from 2 to 8 p.m. for viewing.
