Doris Lucas Broyles

Doris Lucas Broyles, 82, of Richmond, Va., and Atlanta, Ga., passed away at her home on November 10, 2009. She was born in Pembroke, Va., and was a longtime resident of Richmond, Va., where she was a member of Tomahawk Baptist Church. She will forever be remembered for her giving nature, her loving heart and her willingness to help others. Left to cherish her memory are two sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick Jr. and Vikki Broyles and Ronnie and Cynthia Broyles; five grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and six siblings, Norma Hill, Harriet Albert, and Joe Lucas, of Blacksburg, Va., Peggy Nickels, of Tazewell, Va., Eugene Lucas, of Galveston, Texas, and Howard Lucas, of Lynchburg, Va. She is preceded by her husband, Frederick Broyles; and infant daughter, Jean Broyles. Services are by Bliley's Funeral Home, Chippenham Chapel at 6900 Hull Street Road, Richmond, Va., with visitation on Friday, November 13, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, November 14, 2009, prior to the service. A "Celebration of Life Service" will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Bliley's with burial to follow at Tomahawk Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church reception hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to The Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, Durham, N.C. 27710.
