George Ziegenfuss Obituary

George Livingstone Ziegenfuss, 78, of Speedwell, Va., died November 11, 2009. He was the son of the late Alexander and Helen Stroup Ziegenefus. He formerly was a high school German teacher, a professional carpenter, served numerous Lutheran Churches in Pennsylvania and Virginia, and was an avid hiker on the Appalachian Trail. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Marie Ziegenfuss Tyler. He is survived by his wife, Murray Ann Ziegenfuss, of Speedwell; sons, Paul Stephen Ziegenfus, of Bowmanstown, Pa., Peter John Ziegenfus, of Manisquan, N.J.; brothers and sistersin-law, Earl and Margarit Ziegenfus, of Aquashicola, Pa., Thomas and Gladys Ziegenfus, of Aquashicola, Pa., Ammon and Betty Ziegenfus, of Shoemakerville, Pa.; son-inlaw, James Tyler, of Pembroke, Va.; daughter-inlaw, Jenine Spicer Ziegenfus, of Bowmanstown, Pa.; grandchildren, Jacob Mark Ziegenfus, Amelia Joan Tyler, Emily Ann Ziegenfus; and numerous children and grandchildren in the Cambodian American community. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Appalachain Trail Conservancy, P.O. Box 807, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. 25425 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 958, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. George thank you for being there at Zion when we needed you. Also a special thanks for helping with Lauren's communion and with Eden's baptisim. You will be sadly missed and remembered forever in our hearts.
