Ocie Grogan Obituary

Ocie Altice Grogan, 88, of Penhook, Va., and Stoneville, N.C., passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009. Mrs. Grogan retired from E.I. DuPont with over 30 years service. The hobbies she enjoyed included ceramics, needle point and many arts and crafts. She was born October 9, 1921, a daughter of the late James and Mary Altice. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Wilford Altice. Surviving are her husband, Robert "Duke" Grogan; sister, May Meador; brother, Herman Altice; sister-in-law, Ramona G. Cecil; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Joanne Grogan; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews that called her mom; special friends, Andy and June Burgess. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Franklin Memorial Park with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Her family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, and other times at the home of May Meador, 15 Morgans Dr., Rocky Mount. www.florafuneralservice.com.
