Meta McGuire Obituary

Meta Odessa Craig McGuire, 84, of Roanoke, Va., formerly of Gap Mills, W.Va., passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She was born at Sweet Springs, W.Va., July 29, 1925, a daughter of the late Edward H. "Dink" and Odessa Baker Craig. Mrs. McGuire was a homemaker and a member of the Gap Mills United Methodist Church at Gap Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Morris McGuire on May 8, 1997; a sister, Viola Craig Link; and a brother, Herbert Spencer Craig. Surviving are a son, Danny Craig McGuire and his wife, Connie, of Goodview, Va.; a daughter, Linda Diane Mitchell and her husband, George, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three grandchildren, Kenneth Mitchell and his wife, Maria, of Tampa, Fla., Misti Mitchell, in Maryland and Brian Craig McGuire, of Roanoke, Va.; a great granddaughter, Madison Mitchell, in Maryland; and one sister, Grace Craig Bates, of Sweet Springs, W.Va. Graveside Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the Mt. View Cemetery at Sweet Springs, W.Va. with the Rev. Wesley C. Patterson officiating. Groves Funeral Home in Union is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that Memorial Donations be made to the Gap Mills United Methodist Church at Gap Mills, W.Va. or the Mt. View Cemetery at Sweet Springs, W.Va.
