Nellie F. Jenkins

Nellie F. Jenkins, 104, of Rocky Mount, Va., died on Friday, November 20, 2009. She was born on July 19, 1905, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lavenia Richards Fralin; the last of 11 siblings; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. Jenkins; and daughter, Mary Lee Jones. Mrs. Jenkins was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and remained active until just before her death. She especially loved her flowers, working outside and going to the farm. Mrs. Jenkins was a longtime member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Kitty and Roy Jones; son-in-law, Herbert Jones; grandchildren, Beverly J. Woody and husband, David M. Woody; greatgranddaughter, Lauren N. Woody; and many nieces and nephews. She was very fond of the Jones grandchildren and considered them her family. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009, from Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Dillon and the Rev. Thomas C. Siddle officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
