Guy Clifton Obituary

Guy S. Clifton, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 26, 2009. He was born in Patrick County, Va., son of the late Homer Elza Clifton and Gracie Bowling Clifton Thomas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Pauline Handy Clifton. Mr. Clifton served in the Air Force during World War II, he was the service manager of Valley Cadillac for many years, and he retired as a Real Estate Agent. He volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem, where he logged in 8750 hours. He is survived by his brother, Richard N. Clifton and his wife, Margaret, of Vesta, Va.; half sister, Phyllis Thomas, of Vesta; brother, Terry Clifton and his wife, Phyllis, of Roanoke; several nieces, nephews and other family members; and special friends, Ola Shortt, of Roanoke, and Dewey Stevens, of Vinton. Funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, November 30, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Kevin B. Meadows will officiate. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10 a.m. until service time at Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
