Bruce E. Bohon Sr.

Bruce E. Bohon, Sr., 80, of Salem, passed away at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 25, 2009. He was a disabled veteran, having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and had been a member of Salem Baptist Church since 1958, where he was also a Deacon Emeritus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Monroe Bohon and Lula McDaniel Bohon, brother, Reginald Monroe (R.M.) Bohon and wife, Margaret McDaniel Bohon, brother-in-law, George Henry Sowder, other sisters-in-law, Peggy Fleenor and Cerita Baker Bohon, grandchild, Taylor, niece, Deborah Virginia Landes and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sidney and Ada Adams. His surviving family includes his wife of 59 years, Virginia (Jenny) Bohon; children, Brenda Bohon Hodges and husband, Paul Kenneth Hodges and Bruce E. Bohon, Jr. and wife, Judy Simmons Bohon; brother, Albert (Ikey) Dean Bohon, Sr.; sisters, Geneva Bohon Sowder and Almeta Bohon Landes and husband, Glenn; grandchild, Jessica Marie Bohon; stepsister-in-law, Fay Adams Gunter; and special nieces and nephews, Charlotte Jean, Ed, Tommy, Beth, Buddy, Janet, Barry, Ruth, Charlotte, Barbara Jean, Glenn, Kathy, Donald, Ronald, and George, Jr., Dean and Linda. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 27, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. The Rev. Everett Kier and the Rev.
