Willie Weeks Obituary

Willie Burns Weeks, 74, of Christiansburg, was carried home by the angels of God Thursday, November 26, 2009 from Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg after battling cancer for the last few months. Born in Russell Co. on June 29, 1935, he was a son of the late Dewey Alfred and Artie Kegley Weeks. Willie was a veteran of the United States Navy, United States Army, and Virginia National Guard and was retired from the furniture manufacturing industry with Pulaski Furniture and Bassett Furniture Industries. He was preceded in death by his sisters Margie and Leona. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa (Missie) and Jerry Crawford of Pembroke who had loving cared for him in this last illness. He also leaves his brothers, Guy Weeks of Riner, Raymond Weeks of Christiansburg, Bascomb Weeks of Blacksburg; his sisters, Frances Morrison of Lebanon, Mary Musick of Abingdon; his grandchildren, Cody Allen Gilmore and his fiancé, Taylor Carroll, Brandi Renee Dunagan, A.J. Crawford, Courtney Crawford, Jerry Lee Crawford and Joshua Crawford; he had eagerly looked forward to the arrival of his first great-grandchild in July; and several nieces; and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, November 30, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. before the services. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made for the funeral expenses. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.

Missy,
I never spent a lot of time with your Dad, but I always felt close to him for some reason. He always seemed like a very sweet man. I remember I enjoyed him stopping by Mom and Dad's and playing the guitar and singing. I know you will miss him a lot, but you can take comfort in knowing that he is in a better place and that if we live the way God tells us to, we will see him again one day! If you ever need anything, please let me know! You are in my prayers. Love ya cousin!
