Rada Barnhart Flora

Rada Barnhart Flora, 87, of Boones Mill, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Haven in Rocky Mount. She was born March 14, 1922, a daughter of the late Henry and Dessie Barnhart. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Mary Clingenpeel and her son-in-law, Floyd Clingenpeel, two brothers, Charlie and Dan Barnhart, five sisters, Pearl Wright, Annie Wright, Sylvia LaPrade, Bertha Barnhart and Sallie Howell. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Galen B. Flora, of Boones Mill; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leland W. and Sharon Flora, of Hardy, Gary B. and Nancy Flora, of Boones Mill; grandchildren, Beth Steimle and husband, Aaron, Jay Clingenpeel and wife, Vericona, Melia Chitwood and husband, Brandon, Jared Flora, Doug Flora, Kim Carter and husband, Jeff; seven great-grandchildren, Devin Flora, Anna Carter, Grace Carter, Julia Carter, Victoria Clingenpeel, Natalie Clingenpeel, Colton Clingenpeel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rada was a longtime member of Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren and she enjoyed her church fellowship throughout the years. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener, enjoyed flower arranging and the beauty of nature. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Bruce Huffman and the Rev. Dr. Jeff Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Bonnie Harlow for her loving care at the Haven during recent months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, 2363 Brick Church Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2009 at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
