Violet Madeline Powell Gray

Violet Madeline Powell Gray, 85, of Fincastle, formerly of Roanoke, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009. She retired from Woolworth Store in Roanoke as a Clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Gray; parents, Hugh Roy, and Mary Malona Bryant Powell; and niece, Cindy Gay Powell. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Robert Campbell, of Bedford County; sister, Lou Nell Powell, of Fincastle; brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Joan Spigle Powell, of North Little Rock, Ark.; granddaughter, Christi C. Edmonds; nephew, Vincent (Karen) Powell; nieces, Sherry (Mac) Powell Wiley, Mary Gail (Kyle) Powell Haden, and Heather Lynn Powell; greatnephews, Jordan and Tyler Powell; and greatnieces, Madeline, Melanie, and McKenzie Haden. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. David Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Wheatland Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, December 7, 2009, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Hwy, Buchanan, 254-3000.
