Aileen Childress Obituary

Aileen Phillips (Miss Kitty) Childress, 60, of Rocky Mount, Va., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon, December 6, 2009, at Franklin Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born December 26, 1948, in Welcome, N.C., a daughter of the late Norman and Bessie Phillips. Miss Kitty was also preceded in death by her foster parents, Oscar and Mary Hicks; brother, Richard Phillips and wife, Patricia, all of North Carolina. She is survived by two very special friends, Mama and Papa Butch and Mary Ann Wilcox, who took her under their wings for the past 12 years and loved her as a child of their own. Miss Kitty loved to travel and accompanied Butch and Mary Ann on many vacations. Surviving are her three brothers, Ray Phillips, of Lexington, N.C., and Roy Lee and Claude Phillips, of Olin, N.C.; one nephew, Terry Phillips; six special cousins, Barbara Beane, Emma Barnhart, Brenda Loggins, Mike Phillips, Joyce Mahala, and Clyde Crotts, all of North Caroline. Also surviving are many friends, Tracey and J.D. Cole, Debbie, Sharon, and Brandi Williams, Windy Tibble, Melissa, Mr. Monore and Lucy Hall, Gracie and Jesse Mullins, Tommy and Betty Hunley, Bill and Helen Wilcox, Peggy Overstreet and family, Helen and Ashley Bolling, Sue Carter, Gladys and Billy Wright; friends at Hardee's, her pastor, Stan Parris, loving Sunday School Class, Joyce Stokes, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church, and the owners and staff at the Hub Restaurant of which she was a part of the last 12 years. Funeral services will be conducted 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, from Flora Funeral Chapel with her Pastor, Stan Parris, from Franklin Heights Baptist Church officiating. Her family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday with services being conducted immediately afterwards at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount, Va. www.florafuneralservice.com
