Sylvia Hale Obituary

Ms. Sylvia McCoy Hale, 73, of High Point, N.C., passed away on December 6, 2009. She was born on October 29, 1936, in Montgomery County to Walter F. McCoy Jr. and Virginia P. Kessler McCoy. In addition to her parents, Ms. Hale was preceded in death by a brother, Walter "Skeeter" McCoy; and two sisters, Romona Guilliams and Alice M. Plunkett. Surviving are a daughter, Valerie Hale, of Charlotte; two sons, Billy Hale and wife, Karen, of Lynchburg, Va., and Jay Hale and wife, Donna, of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Phillip, Tracy and Tori Hale; a brother, Joe McCoy and wife, Kaye, of Rye, Texas; a sister, Midge M. Ovenshire and husband, Dave, of Bedford, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Greater Piedmont Team Challenge, P.O. Box 77914, Greensboro, N.C. 27417. Arrangements are by Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Online condolences may be at www.cumbyfuneral.com
