Cecil Clinton Shelton

Cecil Clinton Shelton, of Snowville, Va., was born on March 8, 1931, and passed away on the morning of Wednesday, December 9, 2009, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a life long member of the Snowville Community where he touched countless lives with his generosity and kindness of spirit. His entire life was devoted to his family, community and family farm. He was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Shelton; mother, Resha Buckner Shelton; and beloved son, Cecil (Clint) Shelton Jr. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Altizer Shelton; two daughters, Karen Cox and her husband, Jerry, and Patty Phillips and her husband, Chipper, all of Snowville; sister, Earnestine (Pinky) Dayton and her husband, Robert; nephew, Michael Dayton and wife, Cathy, and family; six grandchildren, Kim Cox Griffitts and husband, Joe, Amy Cox Aust and husband, Bryan, Alan Cox, Emily Smith McGrail and special friend, Ken Richardson, Justin Smith and wife, Holly, and Ashley Phillips Hill and husband, Adam; and six greatgrandchildren. The family would like to express gratitude for all the acts of kindness shown during this difficult time by all our friends and family. We would like to thank Hospice for their generous support and service to our family during this time. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Neil Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
