William Revere Obituary

William A. (Bill) Revere, 90, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 10, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry A. and Nannie French Revere; sisters, Vernah Revere, and Mabel Wiggins; and a brother, Pollard Revere. Mr. Revere served in the United States Army during World War II. He was captured by German soldiers and held as a Prisoner of War for nine months. He was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church and retired after many years of service with Sears. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Lucas Revere; son, Ronald William Revere and wife, Sandra, of Arlington; daughter, Debbie Revere Thompson and husband, Mark, of Richmond; grandchildren, Amanda Revere and husband, Matthew Craig, Mark Aaron Thompson, and Elizabeth Ann Thompson; sister-in-law, Nellie Mullins, of Vinton; brother-in-law, the Rev. Dargan Lucas, of Cumberland, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to the Mission Society, c/o Shenandoah Baptist Church, 6520 Williamson Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2009, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road by Dr. Robert L. Alderman and the Rev. Albin Crutchfield. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707.
