Dora Goad Brown

Dora Goad Brown, 89, of Rocky Mount, Va., passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009. Mrs. Brown was born on November 13, 1920, a daughter of the late Ingle Goad and Bessie Bailey Goad Spangler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Edward Brown; and brother, Cecil Spangler. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing and a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Surviving are her sisters, Margaret Ratliff, of South Boston, and Janet Smith and husband, Harry, of Lynchburg; and sisters-in-law, Doris B. Shea and Ann Marie Spangler. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009, from Rocky Mount Baptist Church with Dr. Jack Corvin officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Dora requested flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to Wilbur Edward Brown Scholarship Fund at FCHS or the Wilbur Edward Brown Benevolence Fund at Rocky Mount Baptist Church.
