Elizabeth Melton Obituary

Elizabeth K. Linkous Melton, 81, a resident of Highland Ridge Rehab. Center, Dublin, Va., went to be with our Lord, after a long illness on Sunday, December 20, 2009. She was born on January 9, 1928 in Montgomery County to the late Sidney A. and Mildred Dowdy. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Edward F. Linkous and Carlos Melton and brothers, Marshall W. Linkous and Possie Dowdy. She retired from Hercules, Inc. after 17 years. She is survived by her children, Nancy Lee Armstrong and husband, Fred, of Charlotte, N.C., Benjamin Edward Linkous and wife; and her special friend, Wanda, of Christiansburg, Va.; grandchildren, Kimberly Suzann Jonas and husband, Brian, Adam Benjamin Linkous, of Radford, Va., and Christopher Michael Cox, of Radford, Va.; great-grandchild, Mason Jonas, of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Magdalene D. Harris, Margaret D. Gearheart, Thelma Jean Hutchison, and Hazel Reed, all of Christiansburg, Va.; brother, Robert C. Dowdy and wife, Irene Wood, of Christiansburg, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of your choice. The Melton family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, VA.
