Viola Wilson Obituary

Viola DeHart Wilson, 93, of Christiansburg, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at her home. She was born in McCoy, Va. on September 26, 1916 to the late Rufus Bayard and Ila Stella McCoy DeHart. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice DeHart Kirk, and three brothers, Maynard DeHart, Tyler DeHart, Lloyd V. DeHart. Viola was a member of the Allegheny Church of Christ. Viola will be dearly missed by her soul mate and husband of 70 years, Truman Eugene Wilson, of Christiansburg, whom she married December 8, 1939. Also surviving are her special friends and caregivers, Brenda Flora, Christiansburg, Billy and Susan Duncan, Christiansburg, Tammy Duncan, Riner, Roger Saville, Blacksburg; three sisters-in-law, Jonell Johnston DeHart, Blacksburg, Margaret Shortridge DeHart, Christiansburg, June Amburgey DeHart, McCoy; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Porter Riner officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
