Walter Wade Obituary

On Sunday, December 20, 2009, God whispered to Walter Wade Jr. "My faithful servant come home." Walter was born on June 4, 1935, in Jenkinjones, W.Va., to the late Walter Wade Sr. and Ivory Wade. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby G. Wade; and a nephew, David Wade. Walter attended Gary District High School in Gary, W.Va. He moved to New York City, where he worked for Building Service 32BJ and was responsible for the maintenance of several buildings in the Wall Street area. Walter moved to Roanoke, Va., after his retirement and became the custodian of Jerusalem Baptist Church. Walter became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and loved to attend all of the services. Those left to rejoice in his memory are one son, Anthony (Tracey) Belcher, of Upper Marlboro, Md.; two daughters, Sonia Robinson and Lola Jones, of Dover, Del.; four sisters, Gracie Wade, of New York City, and Ella Wade, Kathyrn Wade and Sharon Wade, all of Roanoke, Va.; two grandchildren; one sisterin-law, Florence Wade, of Bronx, N.Y.; a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Deacon King Harvey. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009, at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd W. Gregory Jr. officiating. The interment will be in Williams Memorial Park.
