Virginia Mitchell Obituary

Virginia Justis Mitchell, 94, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2009. Virginia had been preceded in death by her husband, W.C. (Red) Mitchell; parents, Walter and Willie Justis; brothers, Earl and Claude Justis; and sister, Blanche Ayers. She had attended National Business College and made her career as a self-employed bookkeeper and tax consultant. Virginia was a long time member at Airlee Court Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Surviving are her daughters, Ginny McKinney and husband, Mike and Donna Woodward and husband, Myron both of Roanoke; grandchildren, Jamey Chocklett, April Felty and husband, Nathan, Corey McKinney and Kim Brislin and husband, Joe; great-grandchildren, Heather Mardis, Alyssa Chocklett, Drew Brislin, Alexis Felty, Gabriel Felty and Baby Brislin to arrive in April; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of South Roanoke Nursing Home and Gentle Shepard Hospice for their care and support during Virginia's illness. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Oakey's North Chapel with services to follow at 3 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Harold Cook to officiate. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
