Sam Witcher Obituary

Sam Wilson Witcher Sr., 91, of Rocky Mount, Va., died on Thursday, December 24, 2009. He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Georgia (Carl) Powell, of Rocky Mount, Va., Mrs. Darlene (Joe) Swain, of Rocky Mount, Va., Minister Flora (Andrew) Cobbs, of Rocky Mount, Va., Mrs. Rebecca Dodson, of Rocky Mount, Va., Mrs. Lucy (Claude) Swain, of Rocky Mount, Va., and Ms. Elsie G. Witcher, of Rocky Mount, Va.; four sons, Mr. Sam (Zanny) Witcher Jr., of Rocky Mount, Va., Mr. Mearl (Carolyn) Witcher, of Rocky Mount, Va., Mr. Elvis (Pamela) Witcher, of Rocky Mount, Va., and Mr. Jeremiah Witcher, of Rocky Mount, Va.; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the New Design United Pentecostal Association Church with Elder Roscoe Richie officiating. Entombment will be held in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Arrangements by Stanfield Mortuary Service, Rocky Mount, Va.
