Olga Owens Obituary

Olga Wirt Owens, 91, of 905 Oakhurst Avenue, Pulaski, Va., died early Monday morning, December 28, 2009, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Virginia on March 3, 1918, and was the daughter of the late James Henry Wirt and Emma Marie Clowers Wirt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Peyton Owens; three sisters, Juanita W. Cox, Nettie W. Smith, and Alma W. Smith; and by eight brothers, Ray, Ralph, James, W. Otto, A. Boone, Roy, Arthur and Tyler Wirt. Mrs. Owens was a charter member and oldest member of the Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a Lay Leader and also held several offices. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and a past member of the Pulaski Order of the Eastern Star. She was a retired employee of Flow Labs in Dublin. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Rhelda O. and Ken McGrary, of Pulaski, and Royzetta O. and David Akers, of Pulaski; grandchildren, Jenny McCrary, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Angie Landreth, of Pulaski, and Justin and Taylor Akers, of Pulaski; and greatgrandchildren, Emily of Lynchburg, Maizy and Molly of Pulaski, and Kaya of Radford. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Grimm officiating. Visiting will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the service hour. Entombment will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009, in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to the Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank special caregiver, Janet Carter. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.

My Dear Friend Rheldra, I know what he you have been through & I am soooo very sorry. My Mother knew your Mother so well, when she did not have dememtia, they were good friends. Now she can not remember much of anyone. Its very sad to see them in that condition. Bless your Mother's sweet heart, she is with God & at peace now.
All my children love you as you have cut their hair since they were little, mine also.
If I can do ANYTHING for you & your family, please let me know. If I am able I will do it.
