I will always remember "Miss Virginia" as a very special and "fiesty" lady, always a lady. I met her thru the Roanoke Chapter, UDC and know how much she loved her ancestry, UDC and DAR. She will always hold a special place in my heart.

Virginia was always known to me as Great Aunt Digie. one of "the ladies." I loved it when she and her sister Mary Linn would come to Jacksonville, FL, to visit their sister, my grandmother. She always told wonderful stories and seemed to have many adventures. I loved her and her eccentricities a lot.

I have known Virginia through the Roanoke Chapter of the UDC. I took her to meetings when she was able to go. I enjoyed hearing her tales of growing up in Roanoke and of her travels. She said she was always the leader of a group walking anywhere. She enjoyed life and being able to visit other places. She is at
peace now with all her memories.

I remember having lunch with Miss Petty and her sisters, Mary Linn and Sally Gordon and thinking how alike and also how different the sisters were.
