John Spraker Obituary

John William (J.W.) Spraker II, 39, of Ivanhoe, Va., died on Tuesday, December 29, 2009. He was born on May 4, 1970, in Wythe County. He was a member of Crosswalk Church. He is survived by his parents, John William Spraker and Yulanda Spraker, of the home; one brother, Otis Bryan Spraker and Jennifer, of Atkins, Va. Numerous other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robbie Patton and the Rev. Tim Worgan officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to Crosswalk Church or the American Cancer Society. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va., is in charge of arrangements.

Yulanda, John & family,
Words cannot tell you how sorry I am about J.W. We did not know about his passing until last night; we have been out of town since 12/26. Please know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks to come. I cannot begin to think of the pain you are feeling right now. May God comfort you; cherish the time you had with J.W. and hold close the memories.

He was a pleasure to work with at the newspaper all the years that we worked together and I missed him when the department closed. His passing will leave a great void in the hearts of all that have been forunate enough to have know him. Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am that you have to endure this loss.
