Virginia Sloan Obituary

Virginia Thomas Turner (Gini) Sloan, 73, of Roanoke, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2009. Born December 3, 1936, she was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Andrew Thomas and Myrtle Minter Thomas. Surviving are her children, Leon (Lee) Turner Jr. and wife, Debbie, Leslie Leedy and Victoria White and husband, Allen; grandchildren, Jason Cornett and wife, Stacy, Lauren Cornett, Noel and Creek Turner and Lori and Lukas White; greatgrandchildren, Layken and Ashton Cornett; sisters, Shirley Graham, of Hardy, Juanita Humphreys, of Washington, Pa., and Betty Stone, of Roanoke; and one niece; and eight nephews. Mrs. Sloan was a member of Parkway Wesleyan Church. She was employed at several businesses in the Roanoke Valley with the last being Lucas Construction and the Joseph Thomas Center at Richfield, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010, at Parkway Wesleyan Church, 3645 Orange Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24012. Arrangements are by Oakey's North Chapel and Crematory.

Was so sorry to hear about your sister. I'm limited as to what I can do, but let me know if there is anything I can do. After I saw her picture, I remembered what she looked like. I can't imagine what you have been thru. Again, I'm so sorry.
