Wilma Frye Obituary

Wilma Beatrice Sayers Frye, 90, of Salem, died Thursday, December 31, 2009. She was born August 31, 1919, daughter of the late George W. and Beulah Edwards Sayers. She retired from Federal Civil Service at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis R. Frye, her two brothers, George A. Sayers, of Salem and Lonnie Fred Sayers, of Hampton. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law, Letha J. Sayers, of Salem , Sue F. Thomas and Joann F. Alvis, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Moody Frye, of Kingsport, Tenn. Surviving her also are five nieces and two nephews, Malinda Sayers and Sandy Sayers, Dawyot, of Salem, Teresa S. Highfill, of Hampton, Linda F. Phillips and Betrice E. Rowell, of Newport News, L. David Sayers, of Hampton and George E. Sayers, of Hayes. A funeral service will be conducted by the Reverend Bobby Pickle at Lotz Salem Chapel at 12 noon, Tuesday, January 5, 2010 followed by interment in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the Chapel at 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of Summerville at Ridgewood Gardens for providing Wilma a home that was healthful, meaningful, and nuturing. The family expresses deep appreciation to care-givers Tamara Lynsky and Victoria Morris, whose attention and affection enriched the final years of Wilma's life.
