My friend and mentor Earl,

I cannot put into words really how much your friendship has meant to me for 40 plus years. You were always there and cared about me whenever I came over to visit you. I loved talking to you because you had insight and wisdom that only comes from GOD and the experiences that he chose for you to share with others. I will always cherish our many talks on life, politics (they could be interesting), current events, and your truck driving days to name just a few. The most profound talks though were about GOD in your life and the few stories about "THE WAR" ( WWII) that you would share. I hope and pray that I have just a sliver of the character that was your trademark. As I sit here and write this in the comfort and heat of my home I cannot help but think about the bitter cold outside now. What I think about is that you as a young Soldier endured things in The Battle of The Bulge (WWII) along with extreme bitter cold as told in history books and films. I am grateful that I had you as a living testimony of your experiences. You always treated me as a Son, and I Love you for that always. You truly are the epitomy of "The Greatest Generation". God Bless.
