Allen Martin Obituary

Allen Lynwood Martin, 68, of Chester, Va., passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family on Thursday, January 7, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a native of Ironto, Va., born the son of Arno Martin and Madeline Wren. Mr. Martin was a retired superintendent with ICI Americas and a member of the Bermuda Optimist Club. He is survived by his beloved wife, Velma Martin; three children, Dr. Allen Martin, Kevin Martin and wife ,Kerry, and Tracy Wilson and husband, Steve; five grandchildren, Kaitlin, Eleanor, Adam, Hannah and Abigail; sister, Karen Hunnings and husband, Robert; brother, Mark Wren and wife, Suzanne; sister, Debbie Christensen; brothers, Greg and Blake Martin; nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chester United Methodist where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, January 9, 2010, with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Virginia, 7231 Forrest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, Va. 23226 or the American Cancer Society.
