Lanora Chitwood Obituary

Lanora H. Quesinberry Chitwood, 97, of Hillsville, Va., died at Trinity Mission of Hillsville on Wednesday, January 6, 2010. She was born December 8, 1912, in Carroll County to Montie Edgar and Jeston Bowman Horton. She was in sales for many years at Hillsville Family Shoe Store. She was predeceased by her husband, Ratio Quesinberry; her second husband, Howard Chitwood; and her brothers, Wise and Clinton Horton. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and Jerry Martin, Broomfield, Colo.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Marion Gray Quesinberry, of Cana, Jimmie and Sarah Quesinberry and Gary and Brenda Quesinberry, of Hillsville; 10 grandchildren, Karen Q. Poe and Tony Quesinberry, of Hillsville, Robin Quesinberry, of Knoxville, Tenn., Craig Quesinberry, of Fincastle, Terry Quesinberry, of Pierre, S.D., Eric Martin, of Larkspur, Colo., Melissa M. DeAndrea, of Westminster, Colo., Tiffany M. Peterson, of Castle Rock, Colo., Neal Quesinberry, of Boiling Springs, Pa., and Ashli Q. Stokes, of Charlotte, N.C.; two stepgrandchildren, Sherry Hunter, of Blacksburg, Va., and Angela Crouse, of Gate City, Va.; a special stepgranddaughter, Gina Crowder, of Hillsville; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Oleane Horton, of Hillsville. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Presbyterian Church with her grandson, The Rev. Robin Quesinberry, officiating. Interment will follow at the Quesinberry/ Semones Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Vaughan-GuynnMcGrady Chapel.
