He worked at the Hercules Plant in Radford, Va., as a Nitro-glycerin Operator for (34) years. He retired from his job in June of 1980. Pop was a very strong, full of life individual until struck with cancer in his later years. He helped anyone who needed his assistance in many walks of life, loved to keep busy, loved to hunt and fish and tend his garden. He stayed very active; loved hard work and enjoyed it and was a man of many talents. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the New Castle Christian Church on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 with Dr. Ernie Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Crawford Family Cemetery in Redbrush beside Paxton's Chapel. Family will receive friends on Monday night, January 11, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Paitsel Funeral Home in New Castle, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Castle Christian Church or the Craig County Rescue Squad. The family wishes to thank everyone for their many acts of kindness, prayers and support during Pop's recent illness and hospitalization. God bless each one of you.
