Benny Jones Obituary

Benny Dale Jones, 62, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away at his residence, with his loving family by his side, after a short illness. Benny was a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. He departed this life to be with family and friends who have gone before him. His destination is Heaven and he will greet you there. Benny was a graduate of Pulaski County High School, class of 1965. He served in the United States Air Force Security Services in the Vietnam Era as the rank of Sergeant. Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Glendon Lee Jones and Edna Ramsey Jones; his brothers, Robert L. Jones, Kenneth D. Jones, Franklin D. Jones and Everett E. Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lula Bell Jones; his children, Wilton Cromer (Kim), Tracy Cromer (Vickie), Tina Harvey, Pamela Jones and Christina Jones; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Linda J. Axon (Jim), of Frankfort, Ky., Ona R. Anderson, of Pulaski, Va.; brother, Clayton E. Jones, of Pulaski, Va.; and a special niece, Tammy Worthington, of Lexington, Ky.; special friends, Leonard and Doris Tuggle, of Stuart, Va. It was at Benny's request that there would be no final goodbyes at visitation or a funeral service. A celebration of his life was held at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va. on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mike Neuse officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New River Valley Community Church at 2455 Peppers Ferry Rd., NW, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Lula and family, I am so glad my father shared a wonderful life with you for 25 years. I was blessed to have met you and thank you for being so kind to me and my brother "lil Benny".
