Charlotte Stafford Obituary

Charlotte E. Stafford was born in Roanoke, Va., to Frank and Irma Harris Stafford on January 19, 1917. She was their only child. Charlotte spent most of her life in Roanoke except for a few years in Michigan. She had a great love for the piano and enjoyed playing the piano for many years. She had a special sense of humor, and her positive attitude was always an inspiration to those who knew her. Charlotte's family, friends, and neighbors were always so important to her. She was a very gifted and talented person who enjoyed origami and calligraphy and had the most beautifully distinctive handwriting. Charlotte's keen mind always cherished memories and stories that she readily shared with others. Special stories were the ones of her with Aunt Rose and Uncle George Davis, the well-known Roanoke photographer. Even in her later years she was always eager to listen, to learn, and to question. Predeceased by her parents; and special family friend, Frank Wood. She is survived by several cousins including Dawn Hearp, of Roanoke, Richard Davis, of Danville, Helen Hannah, of Atlanta, and Bill Rhodes, of Lynchburg. She leaves behind two special friends, Gary Sapp and Tony Beheshti. The family would like to especially thank all of the staff at South Roanoke Nursing Home for their care of Charlotte over the last month and to Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their concern and care. A memorial service of Charlotte's life will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Avenue. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday followed by the service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice at 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019 or to your favorite charity. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
