William Belcher Obituary

William Marvin Belcher, 85, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Born in Giles County, on June 10, 1924, to Clarence and Bertha Barnett Belcher, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by his son, William M. Belcher Jr. (Billy). He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marie Moore Belcher; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Lennie Lucas and Juanita and Shahn Wilburn; his grandchildren, Melissa S. Lucas and Howard L. Lucas II (Len); his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew Floyd Belcher (Bill) and Merle; many nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alene and Dick Duff, Jean and Jasper Secrist, and Buddy and Reedy Moore. He was a Navy World War II Veteran and was a member of Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise. He was also retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Disease, Roanoke/Salem Chapter ADRDA, 2728 Colonial Ave.,. SW, Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010, at Oakey's East Chapel with the Reverend Shahn Wilburn officiating. Interment to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to service. Arrangements by Oakey's East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
