Edith Poindexter Obituary

Edith Thomas Poindexter, 74, of Bedford, Va., passed into eternal rest on Thursday, January 14, 2010. She was born on Thursday, March 28, 1935, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Glover Stonewall Thomas and Pauline Calloway Thomas. At an early age, she professed her belief in Christ and became a member of the Bold Branch Baptist Church where she remained a loyal and faithful member throughout her life. Surviving is her husband, Choice Daniel Poindexter, of Bedford. She also leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters, Donna T. Cabler (James), of Bedford, and Stacey L. Poindexter, of Waldorf, Md.; a son, Danny L. Thomas, of South Bend, Ind.; two sisters, Inez Hairston (James), of Suffolk, and Ruby Thomas, of Bedford; a brother, William Thomas (Evelyn), of Bedford; three grandchildren, James A. Cabler III, Amari Poindexter and Jazzlyn Thomas; loving sisters-in-law, brothers-inlaw, nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the graveside at Old Bold Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Price officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston, Va.

I send my deepest condolences in the home going of Edith,she was always such a great joy and comfort to me when we worked together at the hospital,I can still see her big smile,I can hear her laughter as we worked together.Many days she got me thru by her kind words and encouragement and I will never forget her.I will deeply miss her!She was such a wonderful person!I pray God will give you all comfort and strength as you go thru this difficult time,but take joy in knowing she is not gone,just crossing over to her reward!She was truly "One in a Million",I love you Edith.
