Herbert Howery Flinchum

Herbert Howery Flinchum, 80, of Pilot, Va., passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Herbert retired from the state after 22 years of service. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church for 35 years and served as deacon for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Ross and Charity Oseola Kirkner Flinchum; sister, Velma Sutherland; and brothers, Marvin, Orris Lee, Henry Nelson, and Paul Flinchum. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Flinchum; son and daughter-in-law, Howery "Jim" Lee and Janice Flinchum, of Millington, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Joseph Bishop, of Riner, Va.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jessie and Donna Flinchum, and Eugene "Pete" H. and Nancy Flinchum; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Sidney Hodge; grandchildren, Amy Jo Bishop, Kayla Faye Bishop, Brian Emil Flinchum, Christopher Jarred Dunn, Karrah Leigh Dunn, Sabrina Ann Glover, Regina Elizabeth Smith, and Roger Dale Pannell Jr.; and 14 greatgrandchildren. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010, at Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Bradley officiating. Interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
