Thelma Fowler Obituary

Thelma (Tina) Louise Fowler, 81, of Blacksburg, Va., passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe, N.C. Mrs. Fowler was born on April 28, 1928, to the former Hiram and Ida Jones. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Eugene Semones and Walt Fowler; three brothers; and two sisters. As a young woman she worked at Radford Arsenal and Virginia Tech Horticultural Center. She is survived by her brother, Ralph Jones and his wife, Mary, of Pearisburg, Va.; a son, Michael D. Semones and wife, Gloria, of Monroe, N.C.; grandson, Michael E. Semones and wife, Shanna, of Monroe, N.C.; and great-granddaughters, Aubrey and Shelby. Graveside services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010, in the Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jesse Helms Nursing Center, 1411 Dove Street, Monroe, N.C. 28110 or to your choice of Hospice.
