Lorane & family,
Thank you for sharing Jim with me. The time we spent together playing golf, enjoying our favorite beverages, entertaining common customers, the IASB at the Hyatt each year, ribbing each other, talking conservative politics, discussing our glory days playing high school & small college football and just clowning around was priceless. I will never forget how much fun we had. The more time I spent with Jim, the more I liked him.
Jim & I played golf at PrairieView GC on 12-1-09, the last nice day this year. After every hole he would say enthusastically, "BONUS DAY!". We kept telling each other how lucky we were to be able to get away and play golf on a day like this and how blessed we were to have jobs where we could do this.
Jim, Mike Parrott, Phil Fadden & I had dinner together on 12-17-09 at the Irish Rose to celebrate Christmas and the end of another year. It was the same as always: talking politics, ribbing each other, joking and just being guys. Jim was bubbling about the condo in FL you were about to purchase. I've never seen him more excited about anything. He was just beaming. That's how I'll remember him..............beaming!
I feel blessed to have known Jim, he also had a positive influence on my life.
I'll see you in heaven Jim, with my clubs,so get us a tee time as soon as I get there.
Your friend, Kush

Hey Jimmy,
Man will I miss those wisdom packed rides down I39 in the “golden sofa” on the way to the course when the spring arrives this year. Your sage advice to me when working in an office of 10 women became less than pleasurable. The pride in your voice when you spoke of the men Peter and Nathan had become and how your sometimes grizzled exterior softened immediately when sharing stories of Lorane and her exploits with her girlfriends. I feel privileged to have shared these and many other experiences with you.
In reading the other tributes, I find myself among the many lives that you positively impacted. When Pete called me to share the news, the word “Great Man” immediately came forward. I have not known many great men in my lifetime, but in my estimation you meet the criteria.
To Loraine, Peter, Nathan, and to all others in your life I say thank you for sharing. I am a better person for having known you.
With warmest respect and admiration,
Jay Palm

Love,
Jay and Lorraine Palm

Jim, you will be greatly missed. You were a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. I loved your sense of humor and respected your loyalty to God and our country. Table grace will never be the same without your rich baritone voice. We will sing praises together again in heaven! Looking forward to that precious reunion!

To the Olson Family,
Jim and I became golfing buds through the school business. We not only had competition on the course, but competition teasing one another. He and I were both old small college football players, so the war stories we shared there as well were really special. There will be a real void felt by many of us in the school business with Jim's passing. I know it will be by me. Please accept my deepest condolences. Bill Mattingly, Supt., Oregon.

To my sister and family,
I have always considered Jim to be my best friend. I will greatly miss our morning motorcycle rides, fishing trips, and walking the aisles at Blaine's Farm and Fleet looking for that special widget. Jim put others before himself and was always there to help me try to figure out answers to life's tough questions. I am going to miss you, Bro! Lorane, we have been very close all of our lives and you know that I am here to help in anyway that I can. I love you Lorane, Peter, and Nate.

Dear Family of Jim Olson, So sorry to hear of the loss of your father, husband, brother and son. I know he will be greatly missed. I have some fond memories of visiting Jim & John back in Gifford Pa when we were kids. I took the train ride from Denver to Pa. where Eleanor would pick us up and take us back to their house. Thanks for all the good times I'm glad I was able to see Jim at his neice's wedding back in Sept. We had some good conversation and as usual, Jim never lost his sense of humor and quick wit. Jim was a great guy and an enthusiastic story teller. After a game of golf he would warm up to a story or an anecdote and leave everyone smiling or laughing. While our relationship was primarily professional, I enjoyed Jim's company and considered him a friend. Jim was a person that was easy to like and trust. He will be greatly missed. My
condolences to the family.

I don't even know where to begin. I am honored to have had such an amazing man as a father-in-law. My most memoriable memory is everytime Pete and I would come to Rockford from Nashville, you would always joke about how many clothes I brought. You said this last time, "Geez Kim, you are here for 4 days and you brought enough clothes for a month (of course we would giggle for several minutes)." Our investment and "costume" talks will be missed more than anyone could imagine. I love you Jim and will take good care of Lorane and Pete!!!

P.S. There are no bogeys in heaven, just hole in ones every time.
Love,
Pete
