Patrick Thomason Obituary

Patrick DealeyThomason Paco, Packy, Pdog  On November 11, 2004 we lost our sweet and beautiful son, brother, and friend. Patrick was born June 24, 1980, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna; and is survived by his father, Ray; brothers, Chance, Kenneth, and Christian; and sisters, Elizabeth and Hillary, with whom he had a most special, loving relationship.  Those of us whose lives were blessed by Patrick enjoyed knowing the kindest, most generous, loving young man. In his brief time with us, he enlightened all who knew him. He embraced life's opportunities with great passion. He was a talented painter, potter, photographer and snow boarder. Patrick's diligence and perseverance made him an outstanding Jazz drummer, an accomplishment which was his greatest personal satisfaction. Patrick taught all who knew him how to respect and love life; as a result, all of our lives were enriched. He made us laugh. His bright smile, endless stream of movie quotes, and love of life were infectious. Our challenge is to perpetuate the kindness, happiness and laughter that Paco instilled in all of us. Sadly, his pain was as powerful as his passions. We will miss you, Patrick. "Some strikes, some gutters." A memorial service for Patrick will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov 18. at St. Mark's Cathedral, 231 E. 100 S., Downtown Salt Lake City. A reception to celebrate Patrick's life will follow.

Kenneth, Ray, Chance, Christian - I'm so sorry for your loss. I never knew Packy after the time he was the sweetest little blonde toddler ever, so he will always be that boy to me. It sounds as though he became a great young man, too. My love to you. --Stew

I was so terribly saddened to hear of the loss of Packy. I have such great memories of skiing with him as a very young boy at Snowbird. He really did have a contagious passion for things he enjoyed. If there were words I could share to make the pain more tolerable I would say so. Anyhow please know my prayers and love goes out to you all: Ray, Chance, Kenneth, Christian, and the girls.

To the family,my neighbors and dear freinds...I had the privelege to spend time and take this young man skiing, and coach his older brother in soccer, earlier in my life. I am deeply sadden to hear this news.I remember that packy always brought a smile to everyone around him. It was a pleasure and a honor to have spent the time I had with this young man,at his home and in the mountains skiing. Best regards,Love Michael Johnson

Dear Thomason Family,

My memories of growing up in Salt Lake City will always include such strong, vivid memories of the many times spent with your family, and in particular, Packy and Christian. Packy must have been 5 or 6 when we first met him and I can still clearly hear in my mind what his voice sounded like when he was that age. He will forever live on in my heart and in the hearts of my family.

Christian, Ray, Chance,, Kenneth, Hillary and Elizabeth,

"It is those we live with and love and should know who elude us....Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.

A River Runs Through It

We will etch forever in our memories a good catching day on the Big Blackfoot River, a wonderful meal shared into a late August night, friends and connections across time and distance. We wish you all love and yearn for peace.
