Marian Schreiner Obituary

Marian Howells Schreiner 1933 ~ 2008 Marian H. Schreiner, age 75, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Oct. 5, 2008 as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.Marian was born February 2, 1933 to Rulon S. and Mary P. Howells. She grew up in Salt Lake and spent eight years in Brazil where her father was a mission president. She graduated from the University of Utah in Elementary Education. She taught school for over 20 years, blessing the lives of hundreds of students with her unfailing love and devotion to children's education. Marian was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings. As the Relief Society Chorister in the Butler 8th Ward, she used her musical abilities to enrich the lives of the sisters. She had a strong testimony of the restored gospel and lived her life as a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Marian was blessed with many wonderful friends and loved spending her time with them. Marian enjoyed a plethora of activities. Playing games, dining out, tending her flower garden, spoiling her grandchildren, attending theatrical productions, and cheering on the Utah Jazz were among her favorites. Marian's greatest joy was her family, and she devoted her life to them. She was the epitome of selflessness with all that she did for her children, grandchildren, and all whom she loved. Survived by her children Steve (Marne) Schreiner, Suzi (Hart) Hintze; grandchildren, Ryan, Sam, Russell, Scott, Tanner, Max, Tessa, Ben, Jack, Mariah, and McKay; sister Dorothy (Dean) Ipsen; nieces and nephews Devin (Taunya) Cox, Carrie (Corey) England, Lisa (Kurt) Ogden, Cami (Jason) Dunn, and Scott (Susan) Florence; and step-son Mike (Connie) Schreiner. Funeral services will be held Mon., October 13, 2008, 12 noon at the Butler 8th Ward, 2695 E. 7000 So. Family and friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. and Monday from 10:45-11:45 at the ward. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com

Pat and I are so sorry for your lost. When one that we love so much is taken from us suddenly it is very difficult to deal with. The gospel provides us with such hope that we know they are well but we still miss them. May God bless you and your family at this time.

I knew her in Brazil during the 1950s while her father was there as Mission president. I did not know her well, however I appreciated her love of life and her dedicating to service.. I will miss not knowing she is still here in Mortality..

Dear Suzi, Steve, Dorothy and Families,
I have been very grateful to have had association with Marian over the past many years. What a shock to have her here and well one day and gone so quickly!
She and I have spent many hours together talking on the phone, planning reunions, visiting and playing games in her home or at my home sorting out the genealogy and visiting with other relatives.
I know how much she loved you, her family, and how involved she has been. She and Aunt Mary were a great team and so alike in so many ways. Their love of music, eating out, playing cards, and watching TV shows or videos together gave them both joy.
My prayer is that as you grieve for her loss in this life, you will feel of her spirit as you remember her and her love for each of you. J. Golden Kimball said, "I don't mind dying, it is the getting dead that worries me." Gratefully Marian has been blessed not to have to go through a long illness or much suffering before she could go to the other side of the veil. That is a blesisng for each of you as well.
I think of her great reunion with her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends who are now with her and whom she dearly loved. And I firmly believe that as you allow it, her love and influence on you will still be very real!!!
With much love and sympathy,

Diane Brown
