We loved Arlo very much. He helped Randall install a roof fan to whisk out hot air from the attic almost 20 years ago. After they were done we sat in the driveway for hours, a rapt audience to his amazing half track stories. Every time Arlo would get up to bear his testimony lately, I would think this might be his last time. A couple of weeks ago I called Karla McManama and said, "Let's go visit Arlo and Emelia." Nine days before he died we were chatting with both of them in the living room, interrupting a TV basketball game. I noticed a spot of dried blood on Arlo's hand and was able to wash it and apply a new bandage. I realize that this was a blessing intended for me since this was to be my last meeting with him.

Dear Ward Family,
Arlo was my scout leader as adventurer and explorer scout and we did many back packing nights in the Uintas and else where together. I have some great memories of him bring up the rear and letting no boy get behind. He made us split up and carry the stuff of the slower scouts so we could all stay together better. He always had the heaviest old army pack that weighed three times what any of ours weighed. But then he was four times bigger than us, it seemed. He was gentle, but if we messed around long enough, he would finally set us straight. He taught us to fish, snow mobile and enjoy the out of doors. I hope my 20 years as a scout leader, and taking boys back packing, etc. are as joyful to my boys as my time with Arlo, was to me. He never hestitated to let me hammer as may nails into the home he built for us are Market street, as I could handle. What he did with two swings took me twenty, but he watch with mutch patience and love. A boy always remembers those who care about him. What a gentle giant of a person.

Thanks Arlo and also your family who shared you with us.
