David helped save my soul.
What more can one man ask of another?
I'm grateful for the doors he unlocked and the perspective and clarity he helped me find. I'm forever in his debt for helping me find the path for the first time in my accountable life. For teaching tools I did not posess. For helping me heal. For helping me forgive. For helping me find strength. For shedding light on the worth of a soul. For accompanying me to a point where I could begin to truly appreciate the Savior's sacrifice in my life.
I have known no one else who gave more of themself in the face of adversity - repeatedly putting himself in jeopardy by wearing the armor of God for his brothers, when they struggled to do it for themselves.
Most of all... I'm sorry for the times I am not the man he knows I can be.
David,
I pray that your family may experience success and happiness in the years until your reunion, and find some peace in the knowledge that you have had an eternal effect upon me and my family.
I love you.

Hi:
My name is Troy O'Dell. David was my first companion out in the mission field in the Boston Massachusetts mission. We were together for 2 months in Newport, Rhode Island. We had some fun experiences there. Some of my most vivid and funny memories of my mission were of those first couple of months with David during that time. Our time there was during the last America's cup yacht races ever to be held in Rhode Island, where it had been for 100+ years. I am sure you heard many of his stories.
I Don't know if he ever told you the story of our "knuckle fight" experience. David was so stubborn he did not want to quit and we ended up going to the hospital to get his hands checked. They became so swollen he could barely use one of his hands for several weeks.
My word, could he snore! He also had a big heart!
I tried sending a Christmas card this year but it came back to me.
I am very sorry to hear about your loss and wish I could have had some contact with Dave before his death.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dave was such a wonderful, loving man who truly touched my life for the good.
Dave taught me to look past people's faults and see their hearts. He helped me to understand and to love others regardless of their choices and problems.
I will always and forever remember Dave and the great counseling he gave me during some of my hardest days.
Becky and children, I know how much Dave loved you guys, you were his life, and I know that he will always watch over you, always be there for you. There is no way that he would want to do anything else with his time in Heaven.
I know that the greater the tragedy the greater you will see the hand of the Lord.. I'm sure that you will be greatly blessed during this very hard time.
May God bless you all.

Dave always saw the potential in me. He was one of my greatest mentors throughout the last seven or eight years of my life. Dave had this amazing ability to spot the light at the end of even the darkest tunnels and always encouraged people to see the positive. I will take with me the lessons I have learned from this great man for the rest of my life. I would like to send my deepest condolences to the Family and loved ones of David Wilks. I speak for myself and I'm sure many others when I say that I am a better person for being blessed enough to have known him. You will be missed my good friend.

My Dear David: I remember the day you were born, and the fun I had playing with you and your brother Robert in the leaves in the backyard at Grandma and Grandpa Barlow's. I am grateful to be able to call you my nephew. God bless your sweet family.

Dave was a very good individual with a great heart full of Love and care for his friends. He cared about helping me in my times of trouble and difficulty. He was an inspiration to many that I saw him hanging out with. He and I were going to start a motorcycle business and design motorcycle wheels and just have fun with being friends and build our futures. He was an inspiration in helping me build my future, he also helped me bring my wife here to the United States from the Phillippines. He is a good friend and He will always be remembered by me and I hope to see him in the next life. I thank him and my wife for his good spirit and kindness and all he has done to support us and help us. I hope the best for you Becky and your children. Keep your spirits high and full of love for Dave.

My favorite memory of my brother David was a camping trip about 20 years ago, when David asked me if I wanted to go fishing with him on the lake...I of course said YES, but we didn't have a boat. Turns out, we used an inflatable air mattress, and I was the engine, hanging off the end of the mattress and kicking like crazy! Till we meet again David!
