Suzanne Montgomery Obituary

Suzanne Montgomery "Perfect in our eyes"  Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and best friend, Suzanne Montgomery, (44) passed away October 26, 2004 in the comfort of her home after fighting a valiant battle against breast cancer. She was born on October 2, 1960 in Salt Lake City to Betty Lynne Christensen Stewart and Don William Harward. She married her sweetheart, Larry C Montgomery, November 19, 1981 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Suzanne was well known for freely offering her service and love. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her Father in Heaven and enjoyed watching the sunsets for they were His hand at work. She gave life to three wonderful children whom she raised with love. She found joy in helping them with their school work and extracurricular activities. She is perfect in their eyes. Her two sons like to say "thank you" by playing their instruments for her. She would say, "That is the best medicine!" Suzanne was extremely gifted at creating hand crafts and expressed her love for others by sharing her talents with them and making gifts for many occasions. Her circle of friends reached from those she worked with to close friends she met monthly with at Book Club, as well as her neighbors and many others whose lives she has touched. She is survived by her eternal companion, Larry C Montgomery; children, Tami Lynn (Todd Allen) Young, Nathan L Montgomery, and Aaron C Montgomery; granddaughter, Olivia Lynn Young; mother, Betty Lynne Stewart; brothers, Scott Harward, Shawn Harward and Steven (Shannon) Harward; and sister, Shannon (Ned) Cook; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Monty and Norma Lynn Montgomery. Friends may call Friday, at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service at the church 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.

Happy, happy birthday, dearest Suzanne! I literally cried every day for six months when you graduated into Heaven. I always think about you on your birthday and lots and lots of other days too. I miss you so much. I´m so grateful for all of the fun times we had together, especially the significant times in both of our lives getting married and having kids. Whenever I´m thinking and reflecting on you, there is such fondness in all of your sweet and special traits that make up your personality. When the "gorgeous girls" get together we always chat about you and Barbara. Someday our reunion is going to be fabulous! Steve, I love you and miss you! I´m sure every day in heaven is wonderful and perfect! But I especially hope today is lovely! Love, Pam

I was aware Suzanne left us a number of years ago, but only now did I find this page to honor her memory. She was one of my best friends in school - and we had a blast listening to "Saturday Night Fever" hits at her house and endlessly teasing her mother Betty about anything we could think of. Her Dad drove a bunch of us rowdy teens down to the Utah Shakespearean Festival one summer, and I'm sure he was permanently shaken after it was over. Suzanne, I'm sad I wasn't in Utah when you were ill, and I hope you have found some solace in knowing your family has not and never will forget you. I will look for you down the road somewhere (you're probably arguing for my redemption right now with the Big Guy) and I want a big hug. I have one for you, too. XOXO

Hello Sweetheart,
So it has now been 17 years since you had to leave us. I remember when we were talking that you were concerned with all of us forgetting you and at that time I remember being told that the pain of missing you would get better over time, for some reason I thought I wonder how I will feel in 17 years and now that day has come.
Well I tell you we have not forgotten and if anything we work harder to hang on to ever thought of you and long to hear you simple beautiful laugh.
I'm am angry today and mad and I question ever aspect of this challenge but I will try to put that anger away again because nothing about you can be found in anger, only love and beauty.
We miss you and love you ...the most

Two of your grandkids, Chloe & Kender, with a Grandma Suz sunset

September 28, 2021

It's been 17 years and I still don't understand "the why". And it hasn't gotten easier. You are so important and I need you. For now I can, and do, hang on to every memory I still have. I cherish the moments I can feel you close. Watching the sunsets on special occasions or particularly difficult days is a tender mercy. Just the other night I took a picture of Kender & Chloe with a Grandma Suz sunset behind them. This morning Liv showed me a crocheted wash rag she'd finished. Her first one. I told her you'd be so proud of her! You are all around me, yet so far away. It's all very confusing. For the next month (October) I will speak of you often, and live as you did so everyone can be reminded of how awesome you are!

I've enjoyed reading the messages on here. I'm glad Dad set it up so we could have this golden nugget all these years later.

October 26, 2016

Dear Suz,
Miss having you here. Tami posted a beautiful picture of you and her on her facebook page, It reminded me of your total love you had for your children. They miss you and I miss you.
I've had time to reflex on those all night conversations that we had as you fought for your life there at the end, they are priceless memories. Remember how we whispered across the hospital room in the dark to each other practicing for what was to come. Just so we would know that we both were fine. Well I'm whispering now I hope you are fine, I am.
Love you most

Harry Birthday Dear Suzy, We all miss you and would love to celebrate this day with you in person. I remember back on this day 10 years ago and how poorly you felt as we asked you to come out and join us as we acknowledged your day. Thank you for making the effort. As I look back on pictures that day it reminds me of how hard you fought trying to beat the cancer. You are amazing. We love you. May this message reach you and find you smiling, Love Larry

Well Suz what can I say it is been 9 years since you were called away. I remember the first day after you were gone and wondered how I would make through to day 2. But I have been blessed and much of that blessing came from you by the way you raised your kids and how you educated me on how to be a better person. I thank you for those blessing every day and I'm proud to report that you children have not forgotten you. Imagine that. Love you dear.

P.S. and thank you Lord

Hello Suz,
Happy Birthday Suz, Love you and miss you on this special day. I imagine that you are feeling the warmth of heaven in you soul today and that you find some happiness in knowing that we all are having fond thoughts of you especially your laughter. I really miss the times when you would get after me for teasing you and the way you elevated you tone of voice when you had enough by calling me by name with a warning "LARRY.. LARRY !!!" or when you would slap your knee and laugh at something pleasant, anyway thanks for being the special wife and mother to us all. Love you Suz.

Hello Suz,
Some would wonder if I had for got your birthday and of course you know I did not. I remember only too well your last birthday with us and how we made you come to the front room so we could give you a cake and some presents. You were a good sport, but exhausted never the less you allowed us to have our festivities and you were in good cheer as always.
Unfortunately your birthday comes at the beginning of the long month of October our last month with you and with each day memories are awakened pleasant thoughts are realized and often very sad thoughts but dear and close to the heart. We love and miss you physically but know that you are there always. Love you dear.

Well Aaron has left for his mission, he could hardly wait to get started, it was nice that he had thought it out that Nate would be home in Only 14 months to take care of us.
It is so hard to see him go; he is truly my "Buddy". Thanks Suz for teaching them so much while you were here. They honor you with their actions. Aaron felt obligates to share his testimony of the Lords plan, since he has been blessed in his own life, and the knowledge he gained through your sacrifice. We love you dear.
Love you Suz, Please watch over him I need him back.....

Hi Suz,
I've been able to live each day as it happened six years ago this October, I remember our trips to the doctors, those tender moments that we shared on these stormy days and the nights at the hospital with sweet conversation across the darken room at night. Your innocence as you approached the step through the veil that separates this life from the next. You are beautiful and we have been blessed to have a partner and a mother such as you.
Love you Suz,

Hey Big Sis!

Was just thinking about you and wanted you to know how much I love you and miss you!

I went out dancing with friends on your birthday and can't think of a better way to have celebrated your day! One of my favorite memories of you is you dancing with me when I was young! It makes me smile so big thinking of how you knelt down to show me how -- I felt so loved as I do every day with the very thought of you!

I miss you more each day, but each day you are deeper in my heart!

I Love You Sis -- Big Hugs!

Well Sweetheart,
Another year has gone by and again I take time to reflect on life and its meaning. Suz through your example and the help of our saviors we have all grown and found a deeper love for the good experiences of life as well as its challenges.
I thank the Lord for being blessed with a partner that bless me with our children who honor us is their deed and actions, through your example they have learned many good traits that make raising them a lot easier then it could be.
I know you are in a wonderful place, though we hate having you gone we truly are grateful that you were able to leave the pain and suffering behind.

I'll be thinking of you and that beautiful smile you always had on, even through this trying ordeal.

Love you, Love you....

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

I wanted to take a minute and thank you for all that you have done for us kids. You have raised three amazing children, the boys are incredible and always impressing me... they sure are teenagers, but teenagers with wonderful goals, bright minds, and futures full of potential! Thank you for always being there for me, for tucking me into bed every night, all of our long chats (your genuine interest and listening ear), and all the talents you have passed on to me. You set a great example for us to follow, and I am so honored to be your daughter! I think of you every day, and I know that you are still whatching over me, my daughter, our family, and so on. Thanks for being the fabulous mother that you are!

I love you,

Tami Lynn

Dear Suzanne,

It's been a little over four months since you left us.

We are so grateful to have you as part of our family. You were most certainly more of a Daughter than a daughter-in-law and so easy to love.

We will always remember the special Mother you were to your children as well a wonderful companion to our son.

Your easy humor will always be a part of our lives. We can almost hear your fun laughter whenever we think of you-which is daily.

We are reminded of your generousty in sharing your talents with us in lovely articles in every room in our home.

We love you dearly, Norma and Monty

Larry, Tami, Todd, Olivia, Aaron, & Nathan,

I think of you every day and know how much you miss your wife, mom, sweetheart, homework buddy, etc., but I know she is watching and those little things that remind you of her bring her closer. Suzanne is learning and growing, just as we are here. She loves you all and hopes that you live each day so you can be with her again, as a forever family. That's what this life is all about, tests and trials and happiness and joy. Love you!!

Dear Larry & family,

We are so sorry to hear of Suzanne's passing. She was such a wonderful woman. I remember how kind she was to our family and how welcome we felt when we moved into the neighborhood and ward. Her sweet smile will be missed so very much. She was a great example to everyone. I remember her bearing her testimony on fast Sundays, I always loved to hear her express the love she had for her family and for our savior. Our prayers are with your family.

Love, The Mena's

I hope this doesn't sound strange, but I have never done this before. I felt compelled to read your beautiful obituary you have online. Like you, I lost my best friend, my husband, to cancer coming up on almost two years now. Your wounds are still close to the surface and fresh right now.Time will help. But even after two years the tears still flow easily, especially because of the holiday season. It sounds like your relationship was the best. Thank heaven for the Plan of Salvation and think of what a great hug Suzanne will have waiting for you. I know you don't know me, but from someone who's just going through this--Hang in there tough, things are going to get a little bit more rocky before they start getting better, but they eventually do get better.God be with you.

I guess you know how much we love you and your family. Your boys have been like our own over the past few months and we are so glad that we could help and have them there. They are always welcome you know that. We wish we could make things better and had Suzanne here alot longer. But how grateful we are to have had the time we did. She was such a great example of patience and love. She loved her family and always supported them. We will always remember that. Please ask if ever we can help

Love Ya

Dear Larry and Family,

The thoughts that flow when I think of Suzzane are simple but strong, she always brought joy to those she met and she was truly a beautiful person inside and out. I will always miss her but I am happy to see that her love and strength will be carried on by her family. I am sure that she has already started a new quilt and will have it ready on our arrival. Please know that you and yours always have a safe spot to rest and retreat in Texas.

Love,

Ned
