I am so very saddened to hear of Rich's passing. We went to Churchill and Skyline together, and were always great friends. He was one of the brightest, kindest, most genuine people I've ever met. He certainly left a lasting legacy. My most sincere sympathies go to his family. You will all be in my prayers.

Dear Marianne & boys,
I am simply one person in a very long list of people whose life was impacted in so many ways by having known you and Rich. I am forever indebted for how his friendship helped me through some of the darkest hours I have ever faced. I can never repay that debt. Rich is one of the finest men I have ever met in my life, or ever will meet. He taught me so much through his friendship, and I am the better for it. My heart aches at the loss of my dear friend and for your family. Please know if I can ever do anything for you, it is yours for the asking. You are in my prayers. Sending you much love from me and the girls.

Marianne,
I recently found out about the death of your husband. I did not have the pleasure of knowing him but sounds like he was an amazing and accomplished man. We all have mortal trails, clearly this is one I can't imagine but know the Lord has a plan and loves you and your sweet boys. May you and your children find peace and happiness!

To the Loved ones of Rich Lloyd:
Frank and I are so sorry for your loss. I truly believe that Rich was a disciple of Christ as he taught all of us so much during his brave battle with cancer. He was an inspiration to me and thousands of others through his journal entries and I for one will miss his wit, his charm and his love for mankind. I know he is playing the piano for the angels and for all of our loved ones who have gone before us.
May God Bless all of you during this most difficult time.

Sister Lloyd,
Tara, Kristi and I are so blessed to have had Rich and yourself in our lives. You don't come across such awesome individuals that touch your life in such a way, that you will never forget them. Your family is such an inspiration for us. I was actually in Salt Lake City for Tara's graduation when we learned of the news of Rich's death.....we were deeply saddened that someone with so much spirit had passed away..he will be remembered by every one he touched, and our heart goes out to you and your sons...don't hesitate to contact us if you are in need of anything.

Marianne and family -
My Dad and I were honored and privileged to hear a loving tribute to Rich and the story of the support of those who have learned to "Live Richly", given by Chris Lee at a Heritage Makers conference on Friday evening as he shared Rich's book with us. Over 100 of us who had never met Rich, were moved to tears by his example and had your family instantly in our prayers. Moments later, Chris shared with us the poignant news that while telling us Rich's story, Rich had been called back to be with our Heavenly Father.
It wasn't until today that our family discovered through another friend (Jason Norman) that Rich was married to Marianne. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. You have a wonderful circle of family and friends for support who will all continue to be in our prayers in the coming days and months.
Love to all your family, from ours.

To the Lloyd Family,
We first met Rich after he had hit our new 1986 car in the church parking lot just after receiving his driver's license. He left us a note and explained what happened. We were so impressed with his integrity then and now. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God Bless! Love,

I am saddened to hear of Rich's passing. He has always been an example of what a Husband, Father, Leader, and most of all FRIEND is suppose to be! He was my seminary teacher when I was a young man, and I will never forgot the MANY, MANY AMAZING lessons he taught me! He was an inspiration to me! He helped me stay close to the Lord as a youth and ever since then! Thank you for raising him the right way and for teaching him how to touch others! Thank you Marianne for you and Rich PERSONALLY touching my life to help make me who I am today! Thank you for letting your Son, Husband, and Father help and inspire all he came in contact with! May the Lord be with you, "Till We Meet Again".

Marianne,
It's been awhile since I had talked to you or Rich, but just want to say that I am thankful for the opportunity to have associated with him. I would often sneak into his Gospel Essentials class in Brushy Creek Ward because he taught the Gospel with a unique clarity and simplicity and it always uplifted me. I know my children thought the world of him and that he made a great impact on their lives with his example, leadership and service to the youth.

Kimball and Elaine,
Know of our love for the two of you, which is deepened as you work in faith through your too-early loss of your son Richard. While it was not our privilege to know him, we have no doubt that he was his father's and mother's son - meaning that he gave love and respect and friendship as the two of you do; that he loved the Lord and served Him freely and well; and that he touched for good the lives of those he knew. So you have done for Sharon and me. Our prayers, our love, and our respect.

Rich was one “Eagle” none of his Skyline classmates will ever forget. He lifted us with his music, strengthened with his smile and inspired with his abilities! Like the eagle, he soared to great heights, was solid in his character and made us all proud to have been around him. We will miss him at our 20th reunion coming 2010 but will celebrate how high he soared in his life and remember to live our own that we may too be lifted up as he has as ‘on the wings of Eagles!’

Dearest Marianne, David, James, and Joshua. I am shocked at the news of Richard’s loss. While Rich and I were not the closest of friends at HBS I remember him as a colleague who was always willing to look at the best of every situation and this quality of his has always reminded me of him. While we cannot control either time nor our destinies, or the destiny of those we love, we can take comfort in the fact that those that live in our heart, who have added to our lives, never really leave us. And as long as we keep them alive in our thoughts they will always be with us. May God give you the strength to bear this loss. My deepest condolences.

Dearest Marianne and the boys,
I am so sorry to hear of Rich's passing. This afternoon I was looking at an HBS graduation picture that I took with Rich, and it brought back fond memories of chatting about life and career with Rich as young graduate students. May the Lord bless and comfort each of you during this difficult time.
