Lorin Fischer Obituary

Lorin Deloy Fischer 10/17/1980 ~ 3/9/2009 By age four, Lorin had become a little naturalist, peaking under rocks and exploring, always with his little brother in tow. When chasing butterflies or "crawlies" he was in his element. Each night when mom came home Lorin would have that day's catch in a fruit jar with holes punched in the top ready for "show and tell". His excitement vibrated as he watched her pleasure, even gasps, as he showed her each prize, one by one. At a very young age, Lorin recognized the finer things in life. As a tiny tike he exclaimed: "Mom, your dress is exquisite!" But when tussling with older siblings regardless the tight hold, Lorin would never give up, leaving the responsibility always on the stronger to end the "fight". He grew up a tease, full of laughter and glee yet always with a supreme tenderness.Lorin always seemed to see deeper and with greater meaning than most. Lorin was never one to bring accolades on himself, in fact only now after his departing have we learned that he donated many hours over at least a three year period to a Salt Lake school for the homeless grades K-3rd grade. A couple of excerpts found in a letter written about Lorin by the director there: "We teach children from K-3rd grade, many of whom suffer emotional trauma and learning difficulties. Lorin has had a calming influence on these children as he has tutored them and has exhibited appropriate boundaries at all times.""When Lorin is in the classroom, I am always confident that my students will have a great opportunity to have a one-on-one tutoring with a compassionate, dependable, intelligent, and creative individual. Lorin has a maturity beyond his years and has a gentle persistence in his life goals. He is quite accomplished and generous with his time. He is self-directed, positive, confident, honest and flexible." Graduating from college at age 20, Lorin lived in Ireland and then Mexico, wanting to explore other cultures and learn their ways. In this process, he discovered even more how much he loved being near his family, hence after three years away, he moved back home to be with them as much as he could. Lorin loved literature, nature and the science of the human body. He could engage in wonderful discussions with family and friends on multiple subjects. He loved dearly his nieces and nephews, and they loved him. He will be sorely missed by his parents, 13 siblings, and countless more nieces, nephews, and friends. There is a giant hole in our hearts not having Lorin around. He truly was an exquisite young man. Lorin was a very private person. In keeping with his character, the service is limited to close family and invited friends. In lieu of flowers, we believe that Lorin would appreciate donations going to a charity that would help needy children. Please donate at your discretion in Lorin's name either to the charity below for needy blind children in Mexico or to the Volunteers of America's Homeless Youth Resource Center in Salt Lake, below. I was blessed with the opportunity of meeting "Lorenzo" (how he introduce himself after so many people had trouble saying Lorin, always so considerated toward others) in his trip to Mexico, his warm smile and his truthful soul made it so easy to approach him. He will always have a special place in our hearts. God fill your hearts with strenght of spirit.

To Dan, Leenie and the whole Fischer Family. My deepest sympathies for your loss. I never had the opportunity to really get to know Loren but it sounds like he was an awesome, son, brother and friend. I pray your family can be strong together and get through these difficults times. I know for our family our belief in God and believing that our loved ones were in his care offered a lot of peace. I know it's hard for words to comfort you right now but it does get easier as time goes by. You learn how to deal with your new normal. You never forget your loved one and don't want to but you learn to go on and breath again, you learn that your going to live and have reasons to want to live again. May God bless and comfort you this day and everyday. Best wishes again. Love Nancy

Lorin will be missed by so many. He was the type of person who instead of sitting at home dreaming about doing things, he had the passion to live, and do what he wanted in life with no second guesses. I'm glad that I got to know such a great entrepreneur. His life is a great example to us all to reach out and take chances. Good bye Lorin I will miss you.

Sometimes we forget to stop and look at just how much beauty we have left on the hearts we touched throughout our lives.

Lorin was one of these people with such a kind and loving soul – always giving. Each of us who had the pleasure to know him, however briefly, are better for it.

May know that you are, and always were, loved Lorin. I only had the pleasure of knowing you briefly before you left for Mexico but instantly knew what a wonderful soul you possessed. May that wonderful soul find peace.

My heart and love to my friends, the entire Fischer family. You are all in my prayers.

Lorin was a beautiful young man that touched many lives in our community. His passing has been a topic of conversation as we consider our own lives, the contributions we make and the way we live. Although I know how reflective he was, sometimes even critical of himself, I always saw in him a hope of the future. I lost touch with him a year or so ago yet reading this page I'm not suprised that he choose to give so much of himself to others. May he find the peace he so wanted. I will miss him, he will be missed by many.

May the pain ease in time and be filled with the happy memories that Lorin left behind.
