Jesus Saucedo Obituary

Jesus “Jesse” C. Saucedo Jr., former Hays County Constable of San Marcos, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 at the age of 72. Jesse was born in Kyle on April 20, 1936 to Josephina (Cisneros) and Jesus Saucedo Sr. Jesse loved the San Marcos community. He was a business owner and active in Hays County politics for all of his adult life. Jesse started his career as a manager of a Conoco gas station where the LBJ House is located. He later started his own business (Saucedo's Wrecker Service) in 1957 at the young age of 21. Shortly after, he started other businesses. As the owner of Saucedo's Construction, Jesse built houses, moved houses and mobile homes, leveled and remodeled homes and excavated large projects. Over a period of many years, Jesse owned a Conoco, Premier, Exxon and two Phillip 66 gas stations in San Marcos. Jesse and his wife also owned rental properties. Jesse's love for the San Marcos community lead him to run for Hays County Constable. He served as constable for Precinct 1 from 1972 to 1975. Jesse also served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1961.On Dec. 19, 1956, he married his wife of 52 year, Dora Garcia Aguirre, of Creedmoor. From that marriage came eight children, Mike, Jesse III, Esther, Tomas (Tommy), Robert, Nancy, Elizabeth and Adam. The Saucedo family worships at St. John's Catholic Church in San Marcos. Jesse raised his family to love and follow the Lord. Jesse was a member of the Knights of Columbus and regularly served as an usher at Sunday mass. Jesse was dedicated to the advancement of minorities in the San Marcos community. Jesse was a long time member of the American GI Forum in San Marcos and served as chairman. In 2008, Jesse received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American GI Forum for his contributions to the advancement of minorities and for serving as the first Hispanic constable in Hays County.Jesse is survived by his wife, Dora Saucedo, sons: Mike Saucedo (Leslie), Tommy Saucedo (Jessica), Robert Saucedo and Adam Saucedo; daughters: Esther Garcia, Nancy Brister (Michael) and Elizabeth Mello (Larry); brothers: Alex Saucedo, Pete Saucedo (Betty), Tony Saucedo (Eva); sister-in-law, Adela Saucedo; grandchildren: Michael Saucedo Jr., TJ Samuel, Robert Garcia Jr., Leandra Narvaiz, Jesse Saucedo IV, Valerie Saucedo, Elisa Mello and Michael Brister Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Jesse Saucedo III, brother, Margarito (Mayo) Saucedo and sisters Mary Granados and Josephina Del Castillo. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1 at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos. Mass will be Friday, Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, San Marcos. Burial will follow in Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. Arrangements under the care and guidance of Pennington Funeral Home, 323 N. Comanche, San Marcos, 353-4311.
