William Erisman Obituary
was born to Bryan and Jewell Erisman in 1920 at Milford, Nebraska. He went to be with his Lord May 22, 2009. He had been employed at Hugh Allan Feed Store, Albers Feed Company and Upland Feed & Fuel Store. He worked in the store but was also a consultant to farmers with chicken ranches. Bill enlisted in the Navy, along with his 2 brothers during World War II. He was assigned to armed guard duty and sailed to the South Pacific as a member of a guns cre w on the SS Santa Monica. He made 3 voyages and was at Okinawa at the height of the KamiKaze attacks on shipping there, and was barely missed by a suicide plane. He was honorably discharged. Bill and wife, Gladys along with Marcia Richter formed The Montclair Walkers, it is still going on. Bill was a member of The Fellowship Church of the Brethern in Pomona for 71 years. He had served as church school superintendent, deacon and many committees. After Bill's retirement he and wife, Gladys camped and travel ed in their motorhome for 3 years before settling in La Verne. Preceding him in death was wife, Gladys and daughter Janice. Surviving him are daughter, JoAnn Mills of Alaska, 2 sisters; Florine Martin and Leila Brown of Alta Loma, 1 brother; Kenneth (Marie) Erisman of Pismo Beach and sister-in-law; Ona Mae Erisman of Las Vegas, grandsons; Brian Mills of Alaska, Frank Stillman of Lost Lake, CA; Rusty (Brandy) Mills of Indiana; Jeffrey Chandler of Susanville, CA; and David (Barbie) Mills of Kentucky, his gr eat-grandkids; Jurell & Trace Mills; Janice Stillman; Janice and Jeff Chandler; Michael and Amanda Mills, many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss his great smile and sense of humor. Burial will be held privately. Memorial services will be held at Pomona Fellowship Church of the Brethren, 875 W. Orange Grove Ave.,Pomona on Friday, June 5 at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Church Memorial Fund.
