Bess, my favorite memory of your dad, DC, was when he brought you to Northwestern to visit Paula and me and to tour the college to see if it was still good enough for his baby girl to attend! I enjoyed having lunch that day, listening to him telling us about his college days, and treating us like young adults on our way into the world

Dearest Bess and Family,
My deepest sympathy for your loss. I remember your dad well and enjoyed visiting with him the last time I was in Springhill and came to see your family. He was a really neat man. I will keep your family in my prayers.

I will always remember Mr. Wimberly as one of those special individuals who had a positive influence on my life as a young person growing up in Springhill. He was always an encourager. I recall that he used to attend our high school football practices in the 60's and always had a smile and an encouraging word. I am thankful for his service to our country and for his legacy.

Mr. Wimberly exemplified what it is to be an upstanding citizen and a proud American. I have seen his family values carried on through his daughter Bess and know that he has been a role model for her children. He will be missed. Please accept our deepest sympathies.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to D. C. Wimberly, Sr. our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Mr. Wimberly. And to Mr. Wimberly it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Wimberly we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,452 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Mr. Wimberly’s family and loved ones.
