James Patterson Obituary

James E. (Pat) and Glenda B. Patterson

RUSTON, LA- Funeral services for James E. (Pat), age 73, and Glenda B. Patterson, age 71, of Ruston, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday October 15, 2007 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Fred Wideman. Interment will follow at the Pines Memorial Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Pat was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a retired football and baseball coach and served many stints as interim athletic director at Louisiana Tech University. He was also a very devoted family man.

Glenda took special joy in her role as a wife of 51 years, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and her community. Glenda was an integral part of the Louisiana Tech University Staff.

Pat and Glenda are survived by daughter: Lee Ann Teer and husband Mark of Yukon, OK; son: Tony Patterson and wife Melanie of Haughton, LA, and grandson: Evan James Teer.

Mr. Patterson is also survived by cousins: Mary Sue Parks of St. Joseph, LA and Dena Todd of Tallulah, LA. Mrs. Patterson is also survived by brother: John Charles Bates of Gulfport, MS, sisters: Peggy Joyce Tuggle of Shreveport, and Cathy Jane Dick of Chandler TX, and twelve nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers for Mr. Patterson will be: Mike Kane, Carey Alsup, E. J. Lewis, Mickey Slaughter, Pat Collins, Ken Caldwell, Fred McGaha and Eddie Holman.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Patterson will be Dale Holman, Jimmy Hopson, Billy Belding, Steve Davison, Tommy Durrett, Huey Warner, Charlie Bourgeois, and A. L. Williams.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M. Sunday October 14, 2007 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Pat and Glenda Patterson Memorial Baseball Scholarship Fund: c/o Louisiana Tech Athletic Department.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom and Dad...I loved "Gravy" so much when our dads coached together and I always thought your mom was extra special b/c I don't know if you knew it or not but she and I had the same birthday...I always think of her every year on our birthday...My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...Tony and LeeAnn, my daddy will help you with absolutely ANYTHING that you need!

Dear Patterson Family:

I was a freshman at La. Tech with Pat and think we graduated together in 1957. Pat was a gentleman the first time I saw him and everytime thereafter. I just thought he was one of those special people. I may have known Glenda but am not sure.
