Not sure what to say?

I served with Dennis in VA in 1995 to 1997.i just found out about his passing today . Myself and my wife became great friends with him and his wife. Their kids was so young but the Merks was always about family. We had a lot of great times in VA. A lot of love and friendship. Dennis was a mentor to me and Tanya was a great friend to my wife Laura. RIP buddy.

I just learned of Dennis's passing and to his family I am so sorry for your loss. I attended Stone Mountain High school with Dennis and our senior year we became really good friends. No matter how bad of a mood I was in , Dennis always made it his mission to make me laugh or at the very least he would accept a smile.
Dennis, thank you for being my friend, thank you for your service to our Country and most of all thank you for being you.

I didn't know SSG Merck but his daughter has been helping me with her work with CFPF. It means a lot to me that someone would look out for us children who have lost a parent in this way, but even more so that it is by someone who is also grieving. I am sorry for this loss and give blessings to all of your family. If I had known SSG Merck I am sure he would be proud of the work his daughter has done. Thank you for everything and God bless.

In honor of a brave soldier who represents a great unit, 878th Engineers

I served with SSG Merck in Ft. Eustis, VA. I recently learned of his passing and feel very sad about it. I know that he was a strong and caring man and he loved his family very much. He was always willing to help everyone and not expect anything in return. I looked upto SSG Merck and his wife because they always seemed very happy. Thank you for having been part of mine and my family's life. You will be trully missed. You are a real American Hero. Tanya, my condolences go out to...
