Danny Chism called his son, Johnathan, a "little daredevil" and said he took part in many of the extreme sports; snowboarding, skydiving, jumping into near-freezing water in Alaska, simply "because he wanted to try it." Chism, 22, of Gonzales, La., was abducted and executed in an ambush Jan. 20 in Karbala. He was assigned to Fort Richardson. He was a Boy Scout who enjoyed rock climbing and became an artillery specialist in the Army. He "liked anybody and everybody," said his mother, Elizabeth Chism. On his MySpace page, decorated with Louisiana State University football photos, Chism said he liked motorcycles, country and metal music and jumping out of airplanes ("I get paid for that one.") He had been studying at Louisiana Technical College for an associate's degree. He wanted to meet the band Tool, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Mudvayne and Slipknot. Family friend Patsy Meades described him as a tall, lanky "regular country kid." On his online profile, he said he slept better when it was raining, had been in love and said his thoughts on first waking up were: "Are we gettin' shot at?"
